YB Chesed Fund

YB Chesed Fund was founded in 1998. We help local New Haven families in need with Shabbos, Yom Tov and general living expenses.

It was named after the parents of its founder Yosef Tzvi Sandman as a legacy to their neshamos. Yisroel and Bayla Sandman came to this country in the early 20th century. Bayla came during the Great Depression and Yosef in the late 1930’s, right before the onset of the Holocaust. They both were Moser Nefesh for their Yiddishkeit and refused to work on Shabbos and Yom Tov, no matter the cost. Giving Tzedakah and helping those in need was another core family value. They raised their son Yosef Tzvi with these values. YB Chesed incorporates the value of tzedakah along with sanctity of Shabbos and Yom Tov by helping cover the expenses that comes along with making Shabbos and Yom Tov.
